Ready for a getaway to Maastricht? Head there by train! Our regional cross-border trains frequently connect Liège with Maastricht, with smooth connections with other trains, both in Belgium as in The Netherlands. Book your tickets at the best fares via SNCB International.
Buy a new season ticket at a Belgian station counter. Would you like to renew an existing season ticket? This can be done at a ticket machine in a Belgian station or online at www.sncb.be (via My SNCB).
Since June 2024, SNCB has operated the Liège-Maastricht route in collaboration with Arriva and NS.
SNCB still operates the train service between Liège-Guillemins and Maastricht, with intermediate stops at Bressoux, Visé, Eijsden and Maastricht Randwijck. But this is now done with Arriva's blue and white trains, which had been running in Germany and the Dutch province of Limburg before. Beyond Maastricht, the train continues to Valkenburg, Heerlen, Landgraaf, Herzogenrath and Aachen, giving it the nickname "Drielandentrein" (train of the three countries).
Journeys between Belgium and Maastricht are subject to SNCB's offer of tickets and season tickets, with discounts at weekends, but also (anytime) for young people (-26), seniors (65+) and beneficiaries of preferential reimbursement. And if you are Train+, you get extra weekend and off-peak discounts and you benefit from capped fares on the Belgian part of the journey.
Children under the age of 12 can travel for free if they are accompanied by a passenger with a valid ticket (max. 4 children per paying passenger). At the station, you can also buy the Standard Season Ticket, the Student Season Ticket and the Student Multi for your frequent journeys to and from Maastricht.
*Off-peak times: departure from Belgium (or, coming from Maastricht, departure from Visé, the first Belgian station after the border) from Monday to Friday before 6:01 am, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and after 6:00 pm.
