The TGV Lyria bar carriage is open to all passengers, offering a wide array of nibbles, snacks, salads and warm and cold meals, as well as hot and cold drinks. The on-board bar specialises in French and Swiss cuisine and wine. A tip for the gourmands: it’s Happy Hour between 17.00 and 21.00 on TGV Lyria! Here, you can also purchase tickets for the Paris Metro.
The family compartments are located in second class coaches. This 4-person face-to-face seating area is separated from the rest of the coach by a glass panel. The fold-down table and seats allow you to free up space to stow a pushchair. A baby-changing area is located close to each Family Area.
To reserve a family area (subject to availability), simply request one when booking. You can do this at any SNCB International station, via the SNCB International Contact Centre or at your travel agency.
For most high-speed trains (notably Thalys, Eurostar, TGV, TGV Lyria and ICE), the cheapest fares are available in limited quantities. So to benefit from the best prices, we suggest you avoid peak times and book your journey as far ahead as possible.
To help you find the lowest prices on the main Thalys services, we can offer you a clever fare calendar: at a glance, you can see all trains with seats at the lowest prices over a period of several months.
In some circumstances, it can be more cost-effective to travel as a group, as some rail companies offer fares which are exclusively available to small groups of 3-5 passengers. Examples include the Thalys "Mini Group" fare or the "Pack Tribu" fare from TGV.
Finally, many railway operators regularly run temporary offers on fares, offering passengers good deals on rail travel. To ensure you don't miss out on these offers, we recommend you visit our website or Facebook page regularly, or sign up for our newsletter.
