Nieuwe Spiegelstraat, Amsterdam's antique shop district

How to get to Nieuwe Spiegelstraat?
Nieuwe Spiegelstraat is in the Spiegelkwartier (between the Herengracht and the Rijksmuseum). The nearest tram stop is Keizersgracht and the nearest metro station is Rokin. From Amsterdam Centraal, the best option is tram 2 towards Nieuw Sloten. From Amsterdam Zuid, take metro line 52 towards Noord.
Canoeing near Amsterdam: paddling through the Waterland polders
When you go on a city trip, you might not think of canoeing straight away… But this unique activity deserves a place on your bucket list. Paddle through the 17th-century landscape just north of Amsterdam, admire the water birds and meadow birds, and discover why this landscape inspired painters like Rembrandt so much.
You can explore by canoe all year round. Depending on the time of year, different trips are on offer: a full day on the water, a loop around Watergang, or a canoe trip at sunset.

Vondelbunker, from nuclear shelter to cultural hotspot
This is apparently Amsterdam's best-kept secret... the Vondelbunker. As its name suggests, during the war, it was used as a shelter while the Vondel bridge was being built. Since then, the place has been a night club, a hippie hangout, a concert hall (where Pink Floyd played on a regular basis ;-))… Now, it hosts many events and cultural activities: concerts, exhibitions, film shows, etc.
Where to find the Vondelbunker?
You'll find the bunker under a bridge in the Vondelpark, where three tram lines run. We'll keep the rest of the directions a mystery… ;-)
Ransdorp and Durgerdam, two idyllic villages to explore by bike
Can you really visit a typical old village without leaving Amsterdam? YES YOU CAN! Get on your bikes and pedal around the picturesque villages of Ransdorp and Durgerdam. The first is a charming village with just 200 inhabitants surrounded by farms and countryside and dominated by a gothic tower... While the second is a quaint fishing village nestling among the polders. A perfect trip if you would like to discover the more rural side of the Netherlands. By bike, of course!
How to get there?
Rent a bike from one of the many bike rental companies. From Amsterdam Centraal, it takes just over half an hour. The ride from Amsterdam Zuid takes about 45 minutes.
No time or don't feel like cycling? Take metro line 52 (which serves both Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Zuid) to the last stop. From there, a Mokumflex taxi (a complement to regular public transport) will take you to the villages.
